“Authentic” food

When looking for food, we often turn to google Maps for suggestions, then read reviews, or we find a place on the street and look it up to see what people say about it.

I have come to the conclusion that anyone who says the restaurant is “authentic” merely means that it serves margaritas in Thailand from hollowed-out pineapples and uses a cake mould to shape its steamed rice into a bear or a star or something equally ridiculous. If a person uses the word “authentic” in a review, the restaurant isn’t and the reviewer doesn’t know.
