The best burgers we had in Southeast Asia are made by this guy at a tiny burger shack in Savannakhet, Laos. Much of Laos is “underdeveloped” for tourism, but Savannakhet was almost over-developed – many people spoke English, it was clean and easy to get around, and they were VERY welcoming. There were also very few tourists. If you go, bring extra books – they are always looking for English reading material to pass around!
